No Lifeguard on Duty is a recent series of photos of abandoned swimming pools, mostly at roadside motels, by J. Bennett Fitts. These photos, almost washes of beige, palest aqua and grey, document an era when the family road trip was a by-product of the wood-paneled station wagon and motor-hotels were in their heyday. Motel trade is a little rougher these days, a dip in sordidness, as witnessed by the state of their pools.
