"Untitled (8-66)"
by sabine7 / February 20, 2006

The abstract works of Thomas Nozkowski marry forms that are both geometric and biomorphic and employ a methodology that involves much scraping off and rubbing down and sanding of the surface. Nozkowski can spend years ‘resolving’ a painting, fully aware that key elements may be lost in the process, but that if this is the case, those elements were simply not meant to be, or were meant to be replaced by something better. As he says, “Each choice made in moving forward involves the sacrifice of something else,” as is the case with most choices.
