"Soul"
The latest narrative paintings of realist F. Scott Hess are based on an ancient Egyptian creation myth that explains how the gods of Light, Firmament, Mind, Generation, Fate, Time and Soul were created each time the Creator God laughed. Hess illustrates these lesser gods by telling the story of a young artist who figures in each of the seven paintings. In Fate he is showing his work to an art dealer, then in Soul he meets a collector at his first exhibition. In Generation, he is making a donation at a sperm bank.
