Calgary artist Lylian Klimek is best known for her ‘What if all the colour leaked out of nature?’ series which included several sculptures representing a natural world devoid of colour. Her more recent pieces, mostly of cast resin or concrete, are much brighter, still incorporating plastic and vinyl and still quite organic in form. Klimek draws on a mix of science fiction and biology for inspiration in order to provide commentary on the possible outcomes of the “commodification of nature”.
