Earth and sky join together in an unusual fashion in the works of Raffaello Ossola. The imaginary worlds of the artist come to life on vivid canvases cut with the occasional cloud and strategically skewed perspective. Although Ossola's paintings are rife with natural elements such as sea, sky and trees, all of these are symbolic rather than representational, just as the architectural elements rarely make up a complete building. The dreamlike scenes are intriguing, drawing the viewer into them visually, but not allowing any thresholds to be crossed. One has a sense of not being permitted to enter, so as not to pollute this almost Myst-like world.
