Mixed Media | Feb 2, 2006

The mixed media of Michigan artist Gregory Steel manifests itself in many ways: video, audio, sculptural installations and miniature tableaux. Steel’s miniatures are quirky scenes of tiny people faced with danger, be it from giant turkey drumsticks or apples, or a live scorpion. Itinerant food vendors hawk their wares while workers set up some religious iconography; soldiers keep watch while curious mothers pushing strollers or old folks in wheelchairs linger by food that is much larger than they are. Watch what you eat before it eats you.
