Maike Abetz and Oliver Drescher are a Berlin-based couple who collaborate on detailed paintings that are imbibed with pop culture and music. The paintings are multi-layered canvases that present a tapestry of iconography that is at once that of the music world and that of history and mythology. The eras represented in some of their more recent works are an amalgam of both recent times and the Renaissance, a home to guitars and angels as well as headphones and classical architecture.
