Six Continents is an ever-changing installation by sculptor Dove Bradshaw which is made up of mounds of one hundred pounds of salt. The salt comes from six different continents and bears various colours that derive from the combination of water upon the mineral deposits determined by the salt’s geographical source. The salt from Africa is grey; Antarctica, ivory; Australia, white; Eurasia, brown; North America, green and South America, ruddy pink. Above each mound, Bradshaw has suspended glass water dispensers – as the water drips onto the salt, both the shape and colour of the mound changes.
