A exhibition by Czech artist Veronika Holcova showing her Territory watercolours has just wrapped up at the Jiri Svestka Gallery in Prague. The link between the paintings is a young woman ostensibly walking her dog. However, instead of enjoying a relaxed amble, the woman is bent forwards, stressed or in a hurry to get it over with. Sometimes she runs, sometimes walks fast, but always with intent. She wears heels and clutches her handbag, her mind is not on her dog at all. The changing landscape provides a temporal continuity as we wonder what her story is all about.
