Nick Shiflet is a Seattle multimedia artist whose black and white photography often includes a mix of natural lighting, great skyscapes and a human element. There is something unabashedly joyful in a lot of his photos, be it a girl simply enjoying a swing in the clouds or another one striking a defiant, yet tongue-in-cheek, pose in the Voodoo duo. Even the mounted bicycles seem to shout out, “hey, over here!” to get our attention. However, some of Shiflet’s colour photos are more straightforward studies in form and texture, especially the Starfish.
