Michael Salter is a North Carolina artist who dabbles in a multitude of media. His Styrobots are robot sculptures made from recycled polystyrene packing waste and stand anywhere from four inches (hey, this is a neat idea!) to twenty-two feet tall (wow, that’s dedication!). An evident simplicity runs throughout Salter’s body of work. His Styrobots, drawings, logos and plasticene characters are all derived from a desire to simplify the chaos that abounds. Salter’s aim is to take the abstractions around him and let the stimuli simmer into a digestible reduction.
