"Green Planks"
Rebecca Holland’s current medium of choice is sugar. She has poured melted Jolly Rancher candies to craft lime green vertical panels and watermelon pink squares that stand elegantly against the walls of the gallery, defiant despite their impermanence. Another installation is aptly named Crush, a thin mass of broken pieces of candy lying neatly within a rectangle. The light is captured by the sugar – the pieces have an ephemeral quality, given their fragility. Also part of Holland’s current exhibition is a series of found objects dipped into the coloured candy. Sweet.
