Sculptor Leslie Fry’s installation Quercus Emancipation is themed around a gigantic oak tree (quercus rubra) which waits outside the window. Fry used plaster and hemp to recreate details from the architectural features of the room that housed the installation. The details of the moldings of this room, made into larger scale sculptures, are caught attempting to flee to the natural world outside where real acorns and oak trees make up the landscape.
