Toronto-born, NY-based Karin Davie has made a significant place for herself in MoCo art with her signature neo-op ribbons of oil paint. Davie paints wet on wet, carefully lining up her colours, using wide, soft brushes to achieve a seemingly carefree look. Her paintings are clear and clean, and her technique makes them seem almost well lit, quite a feat considering the flow and mix of colours. Davie’s works of funhouse mirror distortion have definitely earned her the distinction of being extremely new wavy.
