LA photographer James Welling makes an art out of refining his light and colour techniques as demonstrated in his Flowers series, a collection of gorgeously simple abstract c-prints of plumbago blossoms. The flowers are placed on sheets of black and white film, then the exposure is made. The negative is subsequently printed on colour photo paper in one of the seven colours of the spectrum. When the c-print is finally mounted on plexiglass, the effect is stunning. The flowers are delicate, but bold, dancing without distraction.
