The Groninger Museum is presenting a Hussein Chalayan retrospective covering the London designer’s first ten years. Although this fashion star from Nicosia has launched over twenty eponymous collections over the last decade, this is the first major solo exhibition of his work. Chalayan’s collections often include architectural elements, and indeed, his influences are wide-ranging, from anthropology to philosophy, so the mix of photos, video, outfits and installations that make up the exhibition are a reflection of more than pretty clothes.
