Intro to Gober
by sabine7 / June 29, 2005

Robert Goberís installations of sculpture are, at first glance, seemingly discordant pieces, but are inextricably linked by themes of religion, relationships and humanity, especially now, in a post-9/11 society. Gober has presented numerous variations on the kitchen sink, so much so that his pewter drains, with their crossbars, have come to be interpreted as portals to another space. Also part of the Gober mythology are beeswax sculptures embellished with human hair and handcrafted, but peculiarly skewed, baby cribs and other furniture.
