"Bus Stop with Sea Spray"
Lisa Kereszi’s photographs evoke a sense of nostalgia, but are grounded in the immediate. There is something about Kerssezi’s technique that imbues her photos with a sense of illusion. The bus shelter appears to have been turned around in a trompe-l’oeil moment, but actually serves a purpose. The junked car looks abandoned for the purposes of the photo, but really does live at the leafy junkyard. The 1950’s décor of the twenty-first century East Village apartment is just as current as the 1970’s motel bathroom in Tupper Lake. Kereszi chases ghosts with her camera – it is up to the viewer to catch them.
