Modernist great Georgia O’Keeffe meets Pop artist extraordinaire Andy Warhol in the current exhibition, Moments in Modernism, at the O’Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe. Sub-titled Georgia O’Keeffe and Andy Warhol: Flowers of Distinction, the exhibition is a round up of about 40 flower paintings by two of America’s most popular artists who brought a twentieth century spin to the traditional still life. O’Keeffe’s flowers have always been amongst her most popular, not to mention provocative, works, while Warhol’s floral screen prints were a departure from his pop culture subjects. Warhol’s focus was primarily taken up with the ideas of repetition and process, whereas O’Keeffe’s flowers range in style, from representative to abstract. Together, they provide the viewer with a garden of gorgeousness.
