"This Enigma's for You"
"This Enigma’s for You" is taken from Jennifer Reeves’ recent show Pthalo Blue Ponders It All. Reeves’ acrylics involve a visual storytelling characterized by abstract personages that “people” her barren landscapes and empty rooms. She often places text (sometimes from devotional texts, or pop songs, or - horrors!- the art machine) within her works, often questioning a self-referential art world. One of her earlier works was a completely white painting entitled “A Bunch of Minimalists Try Hard Not to Say Anything”. How can you not take a second look at a colourfully defiant artist and critic who dares to poke fun at her own world?
