Sarah Anne Johnson is a Winnipeg artist who has been getting a lot of press for her recent body of photographs entitled Tree Planting, representing a Canadian rite of passage for students looking to put in some hard work to make good money. While preparing for this series, Johnson realized that she did not always have enough photos to correspond to her own memories of tree planting, so she created dioramas to stand in for the pictures in her mind, thus playing with perspective and scale. Her Tree Planting exhibition is a mixture of both pictures of the “real” world as well as those of her dioramas.
