Kirsten Ulve is a NY-based illustrator who does a wide range of commercial work for print and television. Ulve’s works are eye-catching bursts of retro-contemporary charm with a touch of anime exoticism. Her illustrations, while often of a girlie esthetic, tend more towards the dark side, obliterating any notions of standard cuteness. The Magic Tree, with its gem-hoarding magpie makes me want to shop, but then I quickly get reined in by the excesses of the Clown Vomiting.
