Sharon Louden is the queen of monofilament line. Her sculptural installations are reductive in nature (the materials take up very little space upon arrival), but once in place, provide an abundance of movement and form. Louden’s simple bundles of delicate-looking fishing line cascade down to dominate, and animate, the site. She likens her artwork to “beings that pass through gallery space”. It is impossible to re-create these installations, not only given the ethereal nature of the pieces, but based also on the sheer nightmare of entanglement.
