Installation artist Doug Fishbone’s most ambitious projects have involved up to 40 000 bananas piled up in public places. Happily, once the pile is complete, the bananas are given away free of charge. This project which touches on the themes of consumerism, violence and globalization has landed in London, New York, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Poland. The Brooklyn installation, measuring 2 metres high and 3 metres in diameter, took 4 hours and 3.5 tons of fruit. Fishbone has also sculpted a self-portrait out of gyro meat entitled “Kebab Man”.
