"Eternity-Modernity"

Yayoi Kusama is one busy blue-haired lady. Born in Nagano, and focusing on the humble polka dot throughout her career, this avant-garde painter/sculptor became known for creating soft sculptures and large paintings while staging a variety of “happenings” throughout. That was not enough. She turned also to film production and became a prize-winning novelist to boot. Little wonder, then, that this iconic artist was just feted at the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto. With any luck, the show Eternity-Modernity, which just wrapped up Feb. 13, will be reincarnated at some other venue.
