Pit In by Japan's Store Muu Design Studio is a practical use of bicycle storage. Slot your bike into the table and use it as a stool. It might not be as space-saving as hanging it up, but this is certainly a novel approach to dual function. But sometimes all a design needs is a single function, such as Ivanka's Seeyou concrete gravestone that serves as a concrete, yet spiritual reminder of those departed, working in tandem with nature to provide a lasting and peaceful setting. And at the other end of the visual and/or material spectrum is Tord Boontje's Crystal Ice furniture for Swarovski that made an appearance at Euroluce, just across from SaloneSatellite.

Robert Brunner at Ammunition has designed a new compact outdoor grill for Fuego, an extension of his previous Fuego 01 outdoor grill design. "The Element continues Fuego's explorations into the outdoor grill as social hub." Element is an affordable, gas-powered grill with a simple iconic form that features a high-powered dual-zone cooking system and four different cook top options in a relatively small form factor. Says Brunner, "We wanted to make the Fuego brand accessible and affordable to all, and create something really very special in the process."

Stauffacherbenz, whom we know for their forward thinking furniture design, has been busy these last eight months developing the lightweight e'mo electric commuter car above together with Rapperswil technical university in Switzerland. Called e'mo for "efficient mobility" and "electric motion", it's a fully working prototype that they hope will be brought to market within the next year. At a projected selling price of 10,000 euro it's the Tesla two-seater for everyone else. Says Stefan Stauffacher of StauffacherBenz "[we aren't] focused on car-design..., it was a really challenging project for our studio and we are proud of the result!" More after the jump.

aquaovo, the makers of the eco-friendly OVOPUR water filtration system, introduced a portable glass bottle at IDS called THERM-0. An "Ecothermal water bottle" with double wall glass that includes a built-in strainer for tea and a protective neoprene cover made by Built. GEM (GreenEcoMobility), a Chrysler LLC company founded 10 years ago, is introducing the Peapod, a Neighbourhood Electric Vehicle. This gas- and emission-free electric vehicle is scheduled for production in 2009, but the styling model was shown today. This battery vehicle sports a centre console that will offer iPod integration and hands-free use of your iPhone (not included). Ergonomic mesh seating is another innovative aspect to the Peapod. A light-duty battery electric commercial truck and a larger city vehicle are slated to join the Peapod in the GEM line-up. More about speed and charge time after the jump.
