+ Shell is an urn made of pressed paper and designed by LOTS for burials at sea. Shell will dissolve over time, in celebration of man and nature. There is a small pocket at the top for placing notes or tiny objects and messages can be written on the surface.

+ Brio54 is a young design development company getting ready to launch its first prototype, the H-1, a 4-bedroom home for downsloping lots. Floor plans and specifics of the H-1 are available on the website.

+ Studio Design Rafaschierii recently completed an interesting project for a church in Metz: modern chancel furniture in magnesium and glass. Very non-traditional!

+ The Z-ball by James Van Vossel is an inflatable ergonomic ball, but its 3 handles are positioned in such a way to allow the user to sit farther forward than on most balls. This supports the loin area more and results in more comfortable seating.

+ Reinier de Jong’s KEER can be a lounger of 2 different heights or a stool, or even combined to form a sofa or bench. The KEER element is 8” wide – it is up to the user to determine the use.

+ Yar Rassadín’s new Pantone Matryoshka dolls brings a traditional craft up-to-date, by way of colour matching. Lurking behind are salt and pepper shakers. A Ninja Matryoshka set is also available.

The Design School at the Université de Québec à Montréal recently focussed on the elastic qualities of bamboo and sent us photographs of the resulting projects. Each group was given 50 feet of bamboo flooring. One group created a wall-mounted modular storage system, shown above, where they placed everything from kitchen accessories to Kleenex. Another group made a room divider that stretched up to 20 feet, and a third one created a large chair that rocks. Looks like fun: lie down on the seat and appear to levitate.

Webble wobbles but it's already down, on the floor. BriteObjects sent us a preview of the Webble Mobile Foot Rest, "a new kind foot rest that isn't about resting. Instead, the Webble enables free motion that gets your legs moving while you work. Complementing its unique functionality, the Webble's iconic shape breaks from the norm and encourages your feet to go for a ride.". The designers/ principals behind the Webble believe ergonomic design can be stylish and fun, the foot rest is the first of many ergo products for the office to come. Above, the Webble AIR.

Billed as the green future for motorboating, the Grano 750 Modular Electric (Christelle) is a concept. Designed by Micael Palmgren, it's part of a collection of works by the 2007 industrial design master graduates of Lund University. Says Micael, "Christelle is a green boat concept set to be released in the year 2020. I have repeatedly questioned every detail of the design, to ensure better boating for tomorrow’s customers. We have seen numerous attempts of environmentally friendly vehicles introduced over the past few years, especially from car manufacturers. But not a single proposal for sustainable motor boating. The unique modular design is able to change skin on the spot. This gives limitless choice in configuring the boat for many purposes, from short day trips on the lake to longer journeys at sea.". non·object book author and industrial designer Branko Lukic has sent us a new bottle design for a new vodka called Vertikal. I haven't tried it, but I like the bottle design, the "World's First Neckless Bottle", especially the wide mouth screw top, and the fact that it was intentionally designed so that "after its initial life as a product, the bottle was designed to be re-used as an elegant vase" or in my case, an elegant water bottle (if I can get my hands on one).
