+ J.P. Meulendijks' Blade lamp for Next is composed of three bowl-shaped shades that can be rearranged into fourteen different positions. The diameter can span from one to over two metres depending on the configuration.

valcucine_invitrum_glass_cabinets.jpg
+ Valcucine's latest project, Invitrum, is the first 100% recyclable kitchen for the company. The structure is of drawn, recycled aluminium and the base units are of glass.

oda_architecture_mosaic_folding_chair.jpg
+ ODA-Architecture's Mosaic Folding Chair folds up elegantly, and used in multiples they act almost as a divider. The seat of the chair is made of mosaic tiles embedded in silicon.

alain_gilles_big_foot_table.jpg
+ Alain Gilles is working on the prototype of the Big Foot Table for Bonaldo, and the finished product should be ready for Milan. Each leg has its own personality or angle and has been positioned manually. Also by playing with a variety of colours, the table looks different from every angle.

Met Miika Mansikkamaa at IDS the Finnish designer behind magisso, a simple and smart kitchen cloth holder with magnetic fitting. What's new is the magnet for the other side of the sink, it provides more stability. L'Atelier A Francis

l_atelier_a_francis_kitchen.jpg
Full disclosure, I've worked with Francis Rollin in the past, he's part of the team that made the map-themed divider here. In addition to working with plexiglass, Francis also does custom metal and wood work, in fact it's his specialty. Zaza's Kitchen above illustrates the breadth of his talent, a mix of wood cabinets carefully made to preserve and show off the unique wood grain, a solid metal "track" lighting system, stone counter tops and custom molded drawer fronts that indicate what's lurking inside. Stairs are another specialty, with custom railings, balusters and decorative fillers. See more after the jump.

Karbon Faucet

kohler_karbon_faucet_2.jpg
Kohler will be showcasing it's new articulated Karbon Faucet for the kitchen at ICFF next month. The faucet, which looks like a stylized robot arm on a space shuttle, is highly functional. It can assume and keep any pose and is fully extendable, but most interesting, especially for small kitchens, when finished it folds up into a surprisingly compact space. Watch the video after the jump. Did we mention the joystick control?

+ Electrolux has just launched the new Inspiro oven that is billed as “auto-focus for chefs”. The Inspiro uses sensors to calculate the precise amount of time and energy needed to cook the food, just the way a camera works.

met_berghoff.jpg
+ Two new designs by Frederik Aerts for Berghoff have won red dot awards. The Neo cookware’s flat cover allows for easy pouring and the Zeno mixing bowl has a lid that can be used as a stand for the bowl, thanks to a rim on the inside.

met_lucaci.jpg
+ The Low Tech No Tech #3 is a lamp that makes use of an everyday object. Iulius Lucaci has started a series of designs that put the emphasis on repurposing old favourites.

met_mude.jpg
+ The Mude portable LED lamp by Nicolloe Alves Rincon is battery-operated and geared towards a younger consumer who wants to mix and match the colours and designs.
