Bond, led by Joe Doucet, is a new multi-disciplinary design studio that will launch during ICFF. Designers that make up this team with Doucet are Philip Attar (Philippines), Cressida Payavis (United States), Matthis Kaeding (Germany), David Yoon (Korea) and Maria Horn (Colombia). Some of the conceptual projects that will be featured include pieces for Braun’s 2009 collection and Adieu, a new arts magazine that will be printed with dissipating ink. The content will fade as it becomes outdated and the magazine will become a journal. Scape is a modular seating arrangement, but other concepts are even further reaching, such as Airate, a wind park project and Mantle, a collection of protective apparel. Another project is a subscription service where members are mailed refills of their favorite personal products. Dot is a low-emission vehicle and Partisan a puzzle that ends up either as a dove of peace or a weapon of war.

I'm in San Francisco this week for Web 2.0 Expo. My partners at Praized and I will be attending the conference (more like attending the parties) and to that end, we've put together a Web2Places guide/blog highlighting the places, people and parties nearby. If you've got recommendations for restaurants or bars in SoMa, or anywhere in SF for that matter, please leave a comment. I'll also be visiting with MoCo friends Philip at CITIZEN:Citizen, Joe at Ecolect and Sally of SallyTV. Thanks Sally for the Blue Bottling Coffee Co. tip, I made a b line for the kiosk when we got in and yes, it does edge out Peet's for best coffee in SF IMHO. My cabbie also suggested Citizen Cake around the corner for a complement, another great tip, muchas gracias senor!

Every May when I go to New York for the ICFF show my goal is to stay at the best hotel and eat at the best restaurants NYC has to offer. Ah yes, Harry's living the high life - ah, not quite. The best isn't always the most expensive, in fact for me the best is good value for money and usually it's as little money as possible. Many of you know where these best places are because we've asked you and you've shared them with us. In turn, we've shared some places with you. And now, with MoCo Local, all those best places can be praised (we call it praized) and shared with everyone.
+ beta.mocolocal.com
How it works
If you're looking for something in the USA or Canada simply head over to MoCo Local and search as you would any local directory.
![]()
The database already has 17 million records so you're almost certain to find something. If that something has been praized by someone it will show up at the top of the results.

If you click on the merchant name, you can see all the associated comments as well as a map of where it's located.

And if you sign up you can create a list of favorite places that you can share with friends. It's beta software so it won't always work as intended, and if it doesn't please let us know.
In the weeks to come you'll be seeing MoCo blog posts with a pushpin graphic in it. The pin denotes a place in MoCo Local and the percentage beside it is the percent of positive praise. Clicking on the pin will take you to the details + comments page for that merchant.

Overheard everywhere at SXSW, "Nice to meet you... what's your Twitter?", followed by a quick update or two on a Macbook Air. Seeing as Twitter is the new Facebook, we didn't want to arrive too late to the party. If you're into these things you can now find MoCo Loco on Twitter at http://twitter.com/mocoloco. We're also on Facebook and on Linkedin.

We got an interesting question in our inbox yesterday. Stefano is looking for a piece of furniture that could serve as a wardrobe on one side and shelving on the other for a loft space. He asks if we know of anyone in the Italian industry that makes such a thing, and we wonder if anyone knows of any company anywhere that fits the bill. It seems to be the type of item that could be quite useful in a small space, both as storage and a room divider. Ideas? Please leave a comment.
UPDATE - Diin Diseño from Colombia answered the call today with their modular Sistema de Mobiliario Versátil storage system. Detailed comment after the jump.
