My favorite books of 2006 spoke to me, they zeroed in on subjects that were almost always on my mind this year; living big in small spaces (and small budgets), working in spaces that inspire and finding the best MoCo design in my favorite cities. The pink rabbit HAD to make it into the Top 10 and does so at #5. Austrian art collective Gelitin has a 20-year goal of seeing what happens to the giant knit bunny that lays sprawled across the Italian hillside near Turin, while we’re simply curious as to its state since we covered it at the beginning of the year. + Designers Azin Valy & Suzan Wines of I-Beam Design have produced a stop motion animation video of their new SoHo interiors project, using the actual, modular, multifunctional, interior. Via Core77.

+ The Camper Store in London, and its contents, designed by Jaime Hayon @ designws.com. "'Mediterranean Digital Baroque' is an apposite tag for Hayon's working method - which combines hand-modelling with roto-moulding and computer-aided design".

The fairy tale illustrations by Daniele Scarpa Kos succeed in making this artist place #6 on the Art MoCo Top 10. Scarpa Kos has illustrated a story about the strange characters that stroll through the landscape of rooftop Venice and brings the tale to life through his drawings and his words. SM

Choosing MoCo favorites was a challenge, but having to review a year’s worth of fantastic design was indeed a pleasurable task. The pieces that I kept on my list were those that I keep looking for under the tree … SM
