+ Stockholm-based design studio o4i has created Oom, a sculpural showcase unit for Danish furniture manufacturer Fritz Hansen. It can be mounted on the wall or used with a leg-base to become a freestanding unit that works as both storage and room divider.

cut'n go is a series of 19 “smart little basic products made out of 1mm steel sheet. Lasered, folded, pulvered: ready to go!”. It’s a cooperative effort between Milan and Berlin based designers Julian Appelius, Peter Hils, Johannes Klein and studio Dotdotdot. The objects include the calibro fruit bowl for fruits large and small, snap-off quickspoon, 1:4, a magnetic soccer field, marieke vase, scale scaled picture frame, masterjager belt buckle, left or right side lamp and drop coat hooks. Of note, Boy Bastiaans’ WOEFWAF chair/table, Katharina Langer’s Strip Line lit wall covering, KnockOutDesign’s LIFT concept, Gartenarbeiten’s garden products, Puff_Buff’s inflatable lamps and Jahn-Design’s KINZEL K1 kid’s SUV.

We got a demo of Yves Behar’s LED Leaf lamp for Herman Miller at ICFF. It’s impressive. There are two integrated touch sensitive controls in the base of the lamp that regulate the amount of ‘cool’ vs. ‘warm’ light and light intensity. I’m told that LEDs are hard to work with because they’re sometimes too bright and the UV rays can potentially be harmful. The Leaf solves these problems in an elegant way with dimmer control and surprising articulation that allows the user to direct the light practically anywhere - all in a package barely thicker than a leaf. UPDATE: I may have been misinformed about LEDs, read Woode's comment.

Designer Michelle Ivankovic marries art with design and brings new life to vintage tea cups by hand-dipping them in colourful food-safe silicone. The limited edition Tassa, produced for Umbra, comes in a variety of colours, but each set is one-of-a-kind. The vintage cups and saucers are of varying shapes and sizes which adds to the fun. This design, which was just seen at ICFF and will be available in June, also takes the form of sugar bowls, creamers and teapots. SM
