MEM is a series of bathroom fittings from Germany's Dornbracht. Nice fittings, but awesome bathrooms. I was looking for an excuse to show these images. Actually, the series features a wide selection mix-and- match fittings and modules, some of them very clever and simple.

Chandelier made of acrylic magnifying glasses.
Three different sizes, 66 in all, hanging like teardrop crystals around a single bulb. The magnifiers serve to diffuse and scatter the light, creating patterns on the walls. Per designer Ria Hawthorne, "I wanted to design an elegant, contemporary chandelier that would bring to mind the language of traditional chandeliers, which use crystals to diffuse and scatter light.".

30 renovations as seen in Metropolitan Home.
Contemporary design magazine Metropolitan Home has gathered a few years worth of renovation articles and re-published them in book form. To be fair, there are more photos and more text than was originally published in the magazine. Renovation is a strong theme in Met Home, especially reno done by readers which means the redone homes are mostly by do-it-yourself owners. Mind you, Renovate isn't a step-by-step how-to, it's a well illustrated ideas book. Personally, I like the striking contrast between the before and after of each project. The book is organized by style-specific chapters including cottages, ranch house, apartments, and suburban homes, and also includes a directory for the architects, designers, furniture manufacturers, and craftspeople featured. Naoto Fukazawa's minimalist CD radio.
This is what clock radios should be, front loading Mac-like CD, discreet controls and a brushed aluminum surface with an LED screen that appears only when in use. Naoto, please add a clock, it would redefine the category! Combo stereo stand and CD holder.
This curvy wall console is made of Coverflex Strutturale, a combination of plywood and solid wood that can be bent into shapes. Flex, the console seen here, can be used for your entertainment center and/or PC, and has room for hundreds of CD cases. It uses a steel support to hold it all up. Designer Lorenzo Damiani is also responsible for Bianca, the socket lamp in the extended post.
