Toshiba’s design electronics division RealFleet has a new collection of consumer home electronics that features this contemporary cordless phone. The overall theme is dark and cubist, but fun all the same. In addition to the phone there’s a funky fax machine, desktop audio system, personal shredder, massage chair, humidifier and calculator – all the essentials!

Multifunctional beach furniture.
“The Sand Castle Stool is in response to the need for lightweight, portable, beach furniture. By basing the design on the sand castle bucket, we have created a playful solution which is durable, stackable, acting as storage for your other beach items, but more importantly, creates sandcastles!”. The Sand Castle Stool is a prototype in search of a manufacturer. One of several items seen at DesginFront04, a contemporary design show held in Southend-On-Sea in the UK. Other items included Anne Barrell’s photo tiles, BakeBean’s wine rack shelf, Block’s lit vase, Complice furniture, Jason Taylor’s brush bench, Multi’s bone china lighting, and Waldegrave Sweet’s vases.

Acrylic fruit plate.
Fridgeland is a Montreal based avant-garde furniture and object design publisher. From their 2004 collection, this is Whole In One, an acrylic fruit plate that comes in two shapes and sizes. The latest collection also includes a magazine rack system called Let It Be, Miessing You cubic lamps and All Is Slant CD storage system. The founders are looking for more designers to publish, to, in their words, develop projects from prototype to display in stores.
