A pioneer of modernism, artist Constantin Brancusi willed his entire studio to the government of France with just one requirement, that his sculptures be shown in his studio exactly as they were left. Brancusi's studio has been recreated three times over the past 40 years in Paris. The Brancusi Studies by The Principals was inspired by this serialization of the artist's studio.
Details: Inspired by this serialization of the artist's studio as opposed to the work, The Principals created a series of recreations of Brancusi sculptures, distorting the geometry and scale in successive iterations - as was done in each iteration of Brancusi's studio, testing the boundaries between a design object and an art piece.
"By reducing the scale of each sculpture to desktop size, the pieces become something between a design object and an art piece, testing the expectations of what art and design should be in contemporary culture." say The Principals.
