MOCO'12: evolution from research into the history and specificity of the site and region

Just off the south-eastern coast of Tasmania on an historic farming property sits The Shearer's Quarters, a companion building to an historic cottage built in the 1840's.

Though thoroughly modern with an open plan and extensive use of glazing, The Shearer's Quarters by John Wardle Architects incorporates indigenous materials like Pinus Macrocarpa timber, sourced from old rural windbreaks, in a design that doesn't look out of place on a working sheep farm.
