Valentin Vodev has engraved pictograms, like instructions for use found on clothing, on glassware for J. &. L. Lobmeyr.

Instead of adding to the Lobmeyr glassware assortment with a new product, Vodev developed a system of symbols and pictograms capable of communicating the added value of Lobmeyr Glass.

Engraved on existing glasses, the pictograms supply information - sometimes appearing as a sober set of instructions for use, as an ironic statement, or simply as sheer visual appeal.

Says Vodev, the images can create "scope for our own interpretations, and not least as radically contemporary and captivating decoration."

Vodev's collaboration with J. &. L. Lobmeyr was part of Passionswege during Vienna Design Week 2012.
