Says Eggpicnic, "The technique of hand weaving mimbre originated in Chimbarongo, a town located 160 km south of the Chilean capital."

"In this small town this plant fiber is obtained from Salix viminalis, which grows naturally and the artisans that live there are brought up to take on the special skills of weaving objects using this material."

The Amalia project was conducted in conjunction with mimbre artisans Francisco Palma and Mario Rojas.
