Jawbone, makers of the portable wireless Jambox digital speaker, have created a Big Jambox to turn "any mobile device into a hi-fi sound system".

Like the smaller Jambox that preceded it, the Big Jambox allows the user to wirelessly connect their mobile device (phone, tablet) to listen to music, heighten games or movies and have hands-free conversations via speakerphone.

The Big Jambox creates room-filling sound from a surprisingly lightweight 2.7 pound package. Thanks to an airtight enclosure with two active neodymium drivers and dual-opposing passive bass radiators, the unit can deliver 110 decibels of sound (the original Jambox was 85).

The Big Jambox also lets the user control the music directly; pause, play and skip songs, without having to reach for the mobile device and allows multiple Bluetooth devices to be paired, "so anyone can be the DJ."

Also like the original Jambox, the speaker inside the Big Jambox is a SmartSpeaker™ which means it can evolve over time - be updated with new features, apps and software updates via Jawbone's MyTALK™ platform.
