Mieke Meijer was inspired by industrial architecture, namely power plants, for her latest furniture collection.

Powerplant is a series based on "industrial archeology". Previous efforts by Meijer using this theme include this writing desk modeled on an old gravel plant.

Says Meijer, "By playing with volume and shape, autonomous interior objects arise."

When applied to furniture, industrial archaeology and its spectacular volumes, gives these familiar shapes "a new lease of life in a new context".
