Sara Ivanyi will be showing her Particle fruit bowl in the FoodMarketo "Lemonade for All" pop-up during Sofia Design Week 2011.
Particle has 13 separate wood parts that represent the atoms and bonds that make a citric acid molecule. Says Ivanyi, "Fruits become the atoms in their own molecular component - citric acid connects all fruit."
Particle was designed and produced in a limited edition in wood for the FoodMarketo exhibition during Sofia Design Week.
"Citric acid is a weak, organic acid that occurs naturally in citrus fruits such as oranges and lemons. It is a natural preservative and is also used to add an acidic, or sour, taste to foods and soft drinks. In biochemistry, it is involved in the citric acid cycle, an important stage in the metabolism of almost all living things."
