Karolina Tylka found it a shame that friends with contemporary interiors could never find the perfect cabinet to store tableware, so this Polish designer set about creating a thoroughly modern hutch.

Housewares appear to be floating in this cabinet made of MDF, glass and paper. The "shelves" are strips of coated paper that are woven in and out of the glass supports.

The cardboard version seemed more sturdy in some ways, yet more delicate in others.

The china looked as though it were in a precarious position, but Tylka assured us that it was safe.

Indeed, cups and saucers remained cosy in curvy waves of paper.
