Item Sofa by Patrick Jouin

From music to modules, Patrick Jouin uses a variety of elements to create the whole that is Bernhardt Design's new Item sofa.

"When you create several elements, as with letters or musical notes, there is the possibility to create an entire language, an entire symphony," states Jouin.

"I didn't want clients to be limited to one standard sofa with a predetermined form, but to give them the opportunity to invent the shape that is right for them, for their lives, for their spaces. The idea was to present infinite possibilities based on a few simple elements."

Despite the use of modular segments, an undulating effect is obtained by avoiding right angles. Fourteen elements can be combined in various ways to compose seating suitable for vast spaces, public areas or even small rooms.
