Dérapage Controlé Scarf by Chevalier-Masson
by Harry / November 24, 2009

From their Fall-Winter Collection, Masson & Chevalier's Dérapage Controlé is a scarf with a digital print of a "controlled skid".

There are three scarves made of silk with digital prints; Lace, Toile de Jouy, and Skieurs. The prints depict those three items but then are smudged at either end and bleed the edge colors to the end of the scarf.

Both Masson and Chevalier were trained in textile design and their collections are the result of an experimental approach to materials. The results are daily objects shown in an unusual light: a scarf, a cushion, a belt, socks, a cover, bow ties, a rug, etc. Hence the ball.

"The team experiment with different levels of processes possible in the design of the textile: edge treatment here, a play on the design, structure or on the construction of a specific shape there."
