This Week at Art MoCo

Joe Ledbetter's Detached Fire-Cat does not appear to be in the best of moods. But we all have days like that, don't we? Ledbetter has a way of capturing our everyday angst. See the rest of the week at Art MoCo after the jump.

A huge Kandinsky retrospective is currently underway at the Guggenheim in New York where forty years of work can be compared and enjoyed.

Jess von der Ahe features unusual juxtapositions in her wooden hand-carved sculpture where people and animals have a few surprises in store.

Splashes of colour set off dark elements and delicate drawings in Hannah Stouffer's works of ink on paper. Stouffer's work has something very raw and feminine about it. Go see.

When thoughts, words and visuals have a hankering to blend together, Derek Hickman is there to take care of it. Hickman creates text abstractions, but also salutes childhood toys.

Looks Like Bambi just doesn't know what's coming next - but Joe Ledbetter has an inkling (and a way of not exactly looking on the bright side).
