The main draw at the Habitare Fair was the Ahead! exhibition hall, showcasing the latest designs from Finland and abroad. Among the work on display was a diverse collection of new lighting, including an impressive range of hand-folded Käpy paper pendants by Anna Mari-Vierikko. Finnish textile studio, Fokus Fabrik, launched a series of lamp shades using their distinctive print collection, while designer Jari-Petri Voutilainen came out with an updated version of his Plink pendant.

The fair also had a number of prototypes on display, from both students and established designers. Olga Sjoroos, a student at Turun Ammattikorkeakoulu, designed the collapsible Casa light with velcro seams - allowing users to expand or decrease the fixture's size. Protoshop, a booth organized by Imu and the Finnish Fair Corporation, presented protoypes from ten Finnish designers, including Timo Niskanen's Gimmelegs and the Fikkari lamp by Enni Aijala & Marjukka Takala. Gimmelegs is a lamp which encourages conservation by incorporating an energy-efficient light bulb into the design, while the Fikkari glass lamp aims to bring back childhood memories of using flashlights on dark evenings.
