Painstaking Cabinet by Thelermont Hupton
Thelermont Hupton will be launching a windowless display cabinet at 100% Design London later this month. "The object of exaggerating the impact of each component in the construction is to create a visually coherent form that is the antithesis of it's constituents." In more ways than one...

The 'painstaking' cabinet is the evolution of the studios interest in the relationship of lines and curves first seen in the Craftily Jointed chair (above). The Craftily Jointed chair was inspired by the curves and flow of mid century injection molded chairs. It's a wooden chair constructed from straight components with a seemingly impossible lack of joints.

I like the concepts. The cabinet is a play on moulding, which appears to lack functionality. The chair is simple, and elegant. I don't like the angle at which the rear legs are coming back at. Maybe it is just the photo, but they don't flow with the rest of the chair.
