Wool Works by Craftwork

Designers Craftwork fuse large scale textile design and jewelry with Wool Works, two hanging textile artworks made of of natural wool and aluminum...

Wool Works is an attempt to build bridges between the disciplines of art, craft, design and fashion.

From Craftwork:

For Wool Works we have made two large-scaled textile wall hangings from raw wool and aluminum. They are completely hand made and we twisted approximately 2 Kilometers of raw wool slivers by hand (!!) which were then knotted and bound into place with aluminum tubes to create each work. They are both large scale and unique.
Using aluminum and natural wool top slivers, each screen is a collection of long hanks of wool hand made and twisted into rope. These rope strands are bound together by combining knotting and held in place with powder coated / mirrored aluminum tubes. Craftwork signature Pompoms punctuate and locate the macrame knots woven through. In these beautiful works, there is a strong visual interplay between graphics, materials and textures whilst fusing large scale textile design with jewelry.
We will be showing Wool Works during the London Design Festival this September at Exposure Gallery and are also showcasing one of them at the Red Bull Fashion Factory where fashion brands such as Vivienne Westwood and PPQ will be holding their shows during London Fashion Week.
Mourad Mazouz (the man behind Sketch, Momo and the Double Club, London) has kindly invited us to produce a new version for his new pop-up restaurant at the Royal Academy of Arts in London this Christmas which is really exciting as the theme is sustainability.
