The Standard New York Elevator
by Harry / June 4, 2009

Some moments of zen are better shown than written. One of my recent personal favorites was the elevator at the Standard hotel in New York City.

I enjoyed my stay at the Standard, the floor to ceiling un-tinted glass windows mean you've got a dynamic view of the city for a wall, but it's a small inner 'glass room' that truly mesmerized me; the elevator. The interior is all black glass with clear glass portholes with HD TV screens inside showing a video montage that I couldn't stop watching.

UPDATE: The video is the work of artist Marco Brambilla, called Civilization you can watch the video in its entirety at the Arch Paper here.
