Chairs for the Dysfunctional by Alice Wang
Launched at SaloneSatellite, Alice Wang's series Chairs for the Dysfunctional was almost a warning about self-indulgence and the need to individualize design to suit a wider variety of needs. From chairs that allow everyone to sit at a standard height (140 cm) to those that will amplify the silent but deadlies in order to protect the innocent, Wang's chairs are a reflection of how society is evolving. One chair counts calories burned while fidgeting or jiggling one's legs; another allows status icons to be changed as yet another form of social networking. More dysfunction after the jump.
