Today is the last day of the fair. It is pouring out, and has been for the last 24 hours. Many visitors have left. The mood was odd this year: there was sort of uneven energy throughout the show. A nervousness or reluctance of sorts. Of course I did not manage to see everything, nor even all that I wanted to see, but who ever does? Sure there were a lot of pieces that did not engage me, but there were those that did. And those were the pieces that reminded me that creativity is alive and well. And who better to appreciate this than the droves of Milanese who expressed enthusiasm during their weeklong design passegiata? They were everywhere: at the exhibitions, in the stores and restaurants and all over the streets, showing their visitors that design is all about the living.
