Milan: The Week Begins

Why do my feet hurt so much if I never left Zona Tortona? Some terrific highlights today, on what I consider Day 1 of the show (despite people insisting it was only Day 0), especially Marcel Wanders' idea of Killing the Piggy Bank. That sort of says it all. Foscarini had an amazing immersion display that hit home the importance of emotion in design. Participants were within a kaleidoscope of colour and movement. Modular used the trunk of a creepy, old car to show off some icy garden lights and Arik Ben Simhon showed an array of puffa-style seating. Tom Dixon's Utility series was as full of heft as we'd imagine. It's still a bit of rough ...
